The Recording & Playback buttons allow the user to control the playback and recording of audio. Users can adjust the playback speed, create and view audio markers, and play and record audio.
Add Audio Marker button
The Add Audio Marker button allows the user to add an audio marker at the current position. Audio markers can be used to highlight a particular part of the audio (e.g. for clarification, or to provide additional information).
An audio marker marks a position in the audio, and may have additional text. Users may skip to the position of the audio marker by using the Audio Markers List button. Audio markers are saved to the job and are visible to other users that load the job, including when the job is progressed to subsequent workflow steps.
The Audio Markers List button opens a list of audio markers (both the position and their text) on the current job. Clicking on an audio marker in this list will skip the current position in the audio to the marked position.
Audio markers may be edited or deleted.
Click on the Edit button to edit an audio marker.
Click on the Delete button to delete an audio marker.
The Playback Speed Control button opens the Playback Speed Control, which allows the user to adjust the speed of audio playback. The position defaults to the centre (1x speed) but may be adjusted up to increase the speed, or down to decrease the speed. Adjusting the speed (and in particular, decreasing the speed) may affect the clarity of playback.
The Automatic rewind value controls the amount of automatic rewind. Users may adjust the amount of automatic rewind by adjusting this number between 0 - 30s.
The Rewind button rewinds the current position in the audio by 2s. Double-clicking the Rewind button skips the position back to the start of the audio.
The record button records audio at the current position. Whether audio is inserted, overwrites, or erases later audio depends on the current recording mode.
The Recording Mode button controls the recording mode, which controls whether new audio is inserted, overwrites, or deletes existing audio when recording. The button cycles through the four different recording modes:
Insert
Audio is inserted in the current position. No audio is overwritten or deleted. The progress bar will be green.
Truncate
Audio after the current position is deleted, and the new recording appended. The progress bar will be red.
Overwrite
Audio after the current position is overwritten by the new audio (similar to an analogue cassette). Original audio in excess of the new audio is unchanged. The progress bar will be orange.
Automatic
Automatic mode changes the recording mode based on the current position within the audio. Within the last 10s of the audio, Truncate mode will be used. In the body of the audio (>10s from the end), Insert mode will be used.
