Silence Detection

 
Lexacom and Echo include silence detection to help to prevent users from recording with incorrect device settings or faulty hardware.
 
 
If no recording is detected within the first five seconds of recording, the recording will stop and the warning message will appear. If using Echo-only mode, a dialogue box will appear instead.
 
 
If Lexacom cannot hear the user, the common causes might be:
 
Users can restart the recording after receiving the warning message.
 
Lexacom and Echo will check the first five seconds of recording each time the user starts recording.
 
Lexacom and Echo do not check for silence beyond the first five seconds, as users may wish to pause dictating (without stopping the recording). The silence detection will not warn a user if the device settings change, the device becomes muted, or develops a fault after the first five seconds of a section of recording, but will check if the user stops recording and starts again.
